Maximise Your Living Space, Not Storage Space In 6 Steps
There’s a reason why Marie Kondo’s tips on decluttering had hit it off - it’s because we all love an organised space. With the philosophy that “Your home is living space, not storage space” (Francine Jay), here are six tips to declutter your home and maximise space.
1. Look Behind The Looking Glass
A mirror can help make your room a lot larger than it is, but you could also utilise that space behind your mirror. Turn it into a shelving or hanging area, perfect to store jewellery, scarves, purses or other accessories.
2. You Can Hide More Than Harry Potter In Your Cupboard Under The Stairs
If you have a staircase, there is serious storage potential beneath it. Keep your goods in storage boxes to make sure that they are organised and better protected.
3. Work Upwards, Not Sideways
If you have limited space in the bathroom, consider storing things in the empty space about the toilet. Wall shelving is quite easy to install, and allows for storage of extra supplies that you need to keep handy.
4. There Are More Than Monsters Hiding Under The Bed
Bed risers and storage containers are best friends. Under bed storage is great for out of season clothes, suitcases and things not frequently used.
5. Garages store more than just cars
Consider wall shelving as well as drop-down shelving from the ceiling to maximise the amount of storage space you have in your garage.
6. Invest in space-maximising furniture
Multi-purpose furniture can make a load of difference, providing your house with a 2-in-1 function that usually doesn’t compromise on design.
